IP Cameras

IP (Internet Protocol) cameras represent the current standard in professional surveillance technology. Unlike analog CCTV systems that transmit video over coaxial cable to a dedicated DVR, IP cameras digitize video at the camera itself and transmit it over your existing Ethernet network — or wirelessly via Wi-Fi. This fundamental architecture difference enables higher resolutions (up to 4K and beyond), more sophisticated on-board processing, and far greater flexibility in system design.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) is one of the biggest practical advantages of IP cameras: a single Ethernet cable delivers both data and power to each camera, dramatically simplifying installation. This eliminates the need for separate power outlets at each camera location and reduces cabling costs. PoE switches with battery backup can keep cameras running during power outages, providing continuous coverage when it matters most.

Modern IP cameras include on-board AI chipsets that perform person detection, facial recognition, vehicle classification, and line-crossing detection directly on the camera — reducing network bandwidth and NVR processing load. Edge storage via microSD cards provides local backup if the network connection is interrupted. ONVIF compatibility ensures IP cameras from different manufacturers can work together on the same VMS platform, protecting your investment against vendor lock-in.
